Preview: Bunbury Classic

The Darts Australia Grand Prix continues this weekend as the city of Bunbury welcomes the inaugural Bunbury Classic event from October 14 – 16.

Hosted by WA Darts, this three-day event will see men’s and ladies’ doubles matches underway on Friday and finishing on Saturday. The WDF Bunbury Junior Classic will also be held on Saturday, with the Singles and B-Grade Singles concluding the event on Sunday.

All events over the weekend will be held at the Bunbury Southwest Italian Club, 13-19 White St Bunbury, WA.

DA Media caught up with the event organiser and WA Darts Representative Audrey Mullen for all the information about the event.

“We’re thrilled to have a WDF silver event in WA, as this is a silver event, this could give enough points to qualify for the WDF World Championships – Lakeside “, she said.

“We’re expecting an excellent turnout. The current WA ladies’ state team will be there, all the selected juniors travelling to Queensland in January, and some of the top male players in WA. Also, at least three interstate players, 2 of which are juniors.”

“Overall, since this is an inaugural event, we’re expecting around 100 people each day.”

“We would like to thank Sports Marketing Australia, City of Bunbury, Southwest Italian Club and Neil ‘Bruiser’ Hatchett from Bunbury Men’s darts.”

Audrey mentioned that if anybody needed any additional information, please contact her via email at audreydarts@gmail.com.

Mayor Jaysen Miguel said he is excited to welcome players and spectators to the City of Bunbury.

On behalf of our community, we are proud to welcome WA Darts and all competitors and support staff to the City of Bunbury.

It’s exciting to see the Darts Australia Grand Prix being held in our beautiful City and I hope those taking part get a chance to get out and explore our amazing restaurants, local businesses and facilities.

I encourage our community to get along and check out the action across the weekend, and a huge congratulations to the Bunbury Men’s Darts Club on helping get this event to the City – it will be yet another social and economic boon for Bunbury.
