Darts Australia has what is recognised as the best Coaching Program specifically developed for the sport of Darts.

The Program was originally developed by Barry Thomas and has been updated to suit current sport pathways as per the Australian Sports Commission.

We now have a DA Technical Manual which was developed by Danya Hodgetts and this is available for purchase online HERE.

Coaching Levels 

Level 0

This program is for those community coaches, teachers and parents who wish to assist with coaching under an accredited coach. Click the button below to access all the Level 0 resources.

 

Coaching Accreditation Certificate

Level 1

Darts Australia’s Level 1 Coaching Course follows on from the beginner Junior Coaching Course.

Following the completion, coaches are qualified to coach at Club and/or State & Territory level - if approved by the Board at national level.

Level 2

This is an Advanced Coaching Accreditation which follows along the pathways of Coaching the More Elite Player.

In the next few years, many aspects will undergo change and receive different designations as coaching becomes increasingly focused on the Pathway approach.

Coaching Roles of National Panel Coordinator

  1. Must be an Accredited Active Level 2 coach. ( Where Possible)
  2. Organise a Coaching conference at either  Australian Senior championships or Australian Junior Championships.
  3. Liaise with State /Territory coaching Coordinators.
  4. Receive Candidate Proposed Accreditation’s from State /Territory Coaching coordinators and accredited with Darts Australia Accordingly.
  5. Renew Accreditation of Darts Australia with ASC when due and update where necessary to meet compliance required for accreditation.
  6. Foster Coaching Conduct and Ethics within the Darts community of Darts Australia.
  7. Notify State/Territory Secretaries and Coaching Coordinators if they are not complying with the requirements of Darts Australia and NCD.
  8. Assist in the Development of Darts Australia Juniors. In Compliance with Darts australia Board.
  9. Report to Darts Australia twice annually on Progress within Darts Coaching etc.
  10. Organise for a Junior Development Coaching Session at each Australian Junior Darts championships. (Generally presented by host Coaching Coordinator.
  11. National Coaching Panel must keep records of Accreditation’s. All new accreditation's to be listed on DA Web site.
  12. Coaches should send in their re-accreditation 2 weeks prior to their Expiry date with an amount of $16 for re-accreditation. (Every 4 years) Please send this to your State/Territory coaching Coordinator, who will then forward it to the National Panel Coordinator for accreditation...Annually, each coach is required to pay a $25 registration fee for access to Revolutionise Coaching, due on the 1st of June. This fee is the responsibility of the individual coach.

State Coaching Coordinators.

List Of Duties and Requirements.

  1. Must be an Accredited Level 1 Minimum.
  2. Must work actively to promote the growth of accredited Coaches within their State /Territory.
  3. Should encourage Coaches under their guidance to hold coaching sessions to improve our sport and maintain their coaching Qualifications.
  4. Coaching Coordinator should arrange assessment of coaches once they have completed the Course and attained their Coaching hours as required.
  5. Upon a candidate attaining a successful assessment the following process should occur>
  6. Coaching coordinator will fill out with Candidate relevant paperwork and then forward to Coaching Panel National Coordinator for Accreditation. (Initial accreditation cost is included in the DA Coaching Fee of $75.00) Re-accreditation after 4 years is $16.00 and should be sent to National Coaching panel Coordinator 2 weeks prior to your expiry date.
  7. Coaching coordinators should keep records of all Coach Candidate’s and Accredited Coaches and their Expiry Dates. These Records should be sent to National Coaching Panel Coordinator on 1st June every year.
  8. Coaching Coordinator’s and any other Accredited Coaches should where possible attend the coaching course that is held either at Senior Australian Championships or National Junior Championships or an online Meeting as set. This meeting is to ensure they are keeping up with current Coaching Changes etc.
  9. Coaching coordinators should ensure at all times that the program as per Darts Australia Coaching Program is followed, that records are kept of all coaching Activities by your Candidates and Coaches.
  10. Coaching Coordinator’s should instil in all Candidates and coaches the Coaches Code of Ethics.
  11. Coaching Coordinators who fail to issue Quarterly Reports to the National Coaching Panel Coordinator will be asked to explain and then a Report will be sent to the Darts Australia Board.
  12. The Fee to Darts Australia is $75.00 this includes your first accreditation. States may charge their own fee on top of this to cover Expenses for the Course etc. Courses may be face to face or as an online Course.

Coaches are not permitted to Charge personally for Coaching Sessions.
