The 2022 Mixed Doubles highlights the best pairing of Men and Ladies in Australia, as they compete for the title of being the best Mixed Doubles team in the country. The event was held on Wednesday, the 10th of August.
In the final, Victorian pair Tori Kewish and Justin Thompson were in it once again. For the past four consecutive years, these two have fought it out and won the title and were the team to beat in this year’s competition. Some tough matchups, including a 4-3 win over Semi-Finalists Scott Hallett & Abbey Morrison meant that they made it to the final once again to try and earn their fifth win in a row. South Australia’s Peter Machin & Kym Mitchell were the other team in the final, having defeated Dave Littleboy &
Maureen Homer in the Semi-Final.
Stakes being as high as ever, the game was mouth-watering. Two sets in a row to start for Machin & Mitchell. A two-set response from Kewish & Thompson to even the game. Another two sets for Machin & Mitchell to make it 4-2, and incredibly ANOTHER two-set response from Kewish & Thompson to make it 4-4. With the game in the balance, some clutch shots from the South Australians meant that breaking the run of four in the row, Machin & Mitchell were the mixed doubles champions. An incredible effort to once again reach the final from Kewish & Thompson
